The charity Percent for Good – founded by Mark Lyttleton – was conceived to allow donors to give easily and on a regular basis to the causes that matter most to them via direct donations or Payroll Giving. The organisation has carefully curated several Cause Portfolios which incorporate charities working in a variety of sectors, including those dedicated to providing support to individuals and families throughout the cost-of-living crisis.

The Childhood Trust

One of the charities included in Percent for Good’s Cost-of-Living Crisis Cause Portfolio is The Childhood Trust. This organisation is committed to helping children living in poverty and breaking the cycle of poverty. Through its matched fundraising campaigns, The Childhood Trust has raised £45 million since 2013 to fund the delivery of projects throughout all the London boroughs and has engaged over 500,000 children to date.

Magic Breakfast

Magic Breakfast, also part of the Cost-of-Living Crisis Cause Portfolio, offers expert advice and breakfasts to more than 300,000 children and young people daily in schools across England and Scotland. Dedicated to tackling morning hunger, the charity’s overarching aim is ensuring no child comes to school too hungry to learn. Hope into Action

The third charity chosen by Percent for Good is Hope into Action, which partners with local stakeholders to tackle homelessness in local communities. To date, Hope into Action has invested £32.2 million into homes for the homeless, with 129 homes now open, and provided support to nearly 500 people in their homes.

FoodCycle

FoodCycle is the fourth charity in this Cause Portfolio. This organisation aims to nourish communities with both food and conversation to make loneliness, poverty and food waste things of the past. The charity offers community dining schemes to use food which would otherwise go to waste, feed the hungry, and provide company and conversation. As well as providing nourishment for those who need it, FoodCycle exists to support mental health and wellbeing, connect communities, inspire change and promote sustainability.

Little Village

The final charity that makes up Percent for Good’s Cost-of-Living Crisis Cause Portfolio is Little Village. On a mission to ensure every child has the things they need, the organisation has, so far, passed on over 14,000 pairs of kids’ shoes, more than 17,000 books, nearly 10,000 clothing bundles, over 6,000 coats, and more than 1,100 prams and buggies. Families in need can either visit a Little Village hub or have the items they need delivered to their home. The organisation is also dedicated to connecting families to form support networks, to help them create their own ‘little villages’.
